Exit Permit

  1. Loss of Passport: If a Foreign National loses his/ her travel document (passport), he/ she should promptly report the loss to the nearest police station and the jurisdictional FRRO/ FRO. He/ she should then approach the respective embassy or mission in India and apply for a new travel document. Upon obtaining the new document, he/ she should apply for the necessary visa service on https://indianfrro.gov.in.
  2. Adoptions:
    • Foreign nationals adopting an Indian child under CARA guidelines must obtain exit permits:
      • If the adopted child retains Indian nationality, then both parents need to take exit permits to travel out of India.
      • If the adopted child has acquired the nationality of the country to which either of the adoptive parent belongs, then both parents and the adopted child need to take exit permits to travel out of India.
    • Even if the parents are OCI card holders, the above mentioned conditions shall apply.
    • Foreign Nationals are not permitted to commission surrogacy in India.
