Tibetan Origin

Tibetans Origin persons in India desirous of travelling abroad should possess all the following documents:-

  1. Valid Certificate of Identity (COI)
  2. Visa and necessary documentation of the destination country.
  3. One year multiple entry Return visa issued by jurisdictional FRRO.
  4. Exit Permit issued by jurisdictional FRRO (only if stay abroad is more than 15 days).

Tibetans in India should travel only on the strength of “Certificate of Identity” issued to them by Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India. They require a “Return visa” to be eligible to return to India. In case there is an absence from India for more than 15 days, such Tibetans also need to obtain an Exit Permit from the jurisdictional FRRO, which is issued on the recommendation of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). It may be noted that, if any Tibetan travels from India on any travel document other than the “Certificate of Identity” then they would be ineligible for long term status in India
